Bangladeshi team is emerging strongerImage Credit source: PTI
There is still a lot of time for the ICC ODI World Cup 2027 but there is a stir regarding it. Recently a report has claimed that ICC has fixed the window for this edition from October 4 to November 21, in which the tournament will be organised. While teams like Team India, Australia and South Africa will once again be contenders for this World Cup, one team is gradually emerging stronger and this is Bangladesh, which has always been facing criticism due to its disappointing performance. But this time Bangladeshi team looks different and the reason for this is 3 special players.
bangladesh Recently won the ODI series in Pakistan. After this he has also defeated New Zealand and Australia. However, while the Pakistani team came with full strength, the New Zealand and Australian teams were playing without many of their star players. Bangladesh has won both these series at home, which has become a trend in the last decade. But the victories against New Zealand and Australia are completely different from this trend.
Why is this victory of Bangladesh different?
Different from the trend because till now Bangladeshi team used to face criticism due to the fact that they prepare spin friendly pitch at home and register victory on its own and in ICC tournament they are again exposed. This was also true. But this time Bangladesh has won both these series on pacer friendly pitch and on the strength of its fast bowlers. It may sound shocking but it is true that Australia and Pakistan, famous for their fast bowlers, were defeated by spin heavy Bangladesh at their own game.
The reason for this success of Bangladesh are 3 fast bowlers, who are proving to be an excellent balance of speed, swing, bounce and variation. These three pacers are- Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Nahid Rana. These days, 23 year old Nahid Rana is being talked about the most.
All three bowlers are becoming a problem for the batsmen.
Nahid, who is about 6 and a half feet tall and bowls continuously at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour, is currently the apple of the eye not only of Bangladeshi fans but also of common cricket fans. In Test and ODI, Nahid has not only hurt the batsmen with his fast pace and bounce but has also taken wickets. He has taken 5 or more wickets in an innings 4 times in his career of 12 Tests and 13 ODIs. There is still uncertainty as to how he will perform on the South African pitch.
The experience of Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman will be there to support them. Taskin, who has been playing for Bangladesh for a long time, is successful in getting swing with the new ball along with good speed, due to which he has been seen dismissing the opening batsmen quickly. In both the ODIs against Australia, he took wickets in the first over itself. Whereas long left arm bowler Mustafizur also has good experience. He is not as fast as Naheed or Taskin but he has excellent variations like cutter or slower bouncer, which has always troubled the batsmen. In such a situation, it would not be surprising if the Bangladeshi team does something amazing in the World Cup in South Africa.
