Why Was A Fatwa Issued Against Aamir Khan After Marriage To Gauri Spratt?
Speaking to ABP News, Maulana Ibrahim Hussain said that, according to Sharia, a Muslim man is not permitted to marry a non-Muslim woman unless she accepts Islam.
Referring to , the cleric said he had issued a fatwa-e-aam after being asked whether such a marriage is permissible under Islamic law.
According to him, the Quran allows Muslim men to marry only Muslim women or women who are believers. He further said that marrying a non-believing woman is not allowed under Sharia and added that anyone who does so should seek forgiveness from Allah.
The cleric also claimed that such marriages create confusion about Islamic teachings and negatively affect the image of Islam among both Muslims and non-Muslims.
The Cleric Called It A Sin
The Maulana went on to describe such marriages as haram and said they are considered a sin under Sharia.
He stated that when public figures make such choices, people often associate their actions with Islam itself, leading to misunderstandings about religious teachings. He also appealed to Muslims to follow the principles of their faith and avoid actions that could, according to him, send the wrong message about Islam.
