The incident is of 14th July. Valley Fair Mall in West Valley City, located in Salt Lake County, Utah, was bustling with activity as usual. Syed Sohail Uddin, originally from Tolichowki, Hyderabad, was living there with his wife Amreen Firdous and two children for the last two years and worked at a kiosk inside the mall. Then suddenly an American citizen, identified as Peter Michael Larson, approaches Sohail. Without any argument or provocation, Larson takes a knife out of his pocket and begins stabbing Sohail. There is a scream inside the mall and within no time Sohail falls on the ground drenched in blood.

Attacker’s shocking confession: “My aim is to kill everyone!”
After this attack, when the police arrested the accused Peter Larsen, the statement he gave during interrogation shocked even the investigators. Larsen candidly admitted that he targeted Syed Sohail Uddin solely because he is a Muslim.
Horrific words of the attacker: Larson told officers, “The victim is a Muslim, there is a catalyst, and my goal is to kill all Muslims.” This violent and extremist thinking has raised a big question mark regarding public safety in America. This was clearly a religiously motivated hate crime, where the attacker had blood on his head.

Battle between life and death: How is Sohail’s condition?
Syed Sohail Uddin was immediately taken to a nearby hospital after being stabbed at several places. There were deep wounds on his body, due to which doctors had to immediately perform emergency surgery. According to the medical report, his condition still remains extremely critical and critical due to multiple serious knife wounds. A special team of doctors is keeping a close watch on him round the clock. The entire family is in shock at this time and is praying for Sohail’s safety.

From Court to Government of India: What strict action will be taken?
After this barbaric incident, the American administration has adopted a strict stance. The accused, Peter Michael Larson, has been charged with a felony count of Attempt to Murder and is currently lodged in the Salt Lake County Jail. Prosecutors have strongly appealed to the court to reject his bail application outright in view of his violent tendencies and the danger he poses to society. Meanwhile, the Indian government has also come fully into action. Demand for justice raised from Hyderabad

Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan on July 16 met India’s External Affairs Minister S. An official letter has been written to Jaishankar demanding that the Central Government immediately intervene in this matter and ensure all possible security and assistance to the victim’s family. It has been told in the letter that Syed Sohail Uddin has been living in Utah with his wife Amreen Firdous and two children for the last two years and is working there. Now it remains to be seen whether Sohail will be able to come out of the jaws of death and whether American law will be able to give the harshest punishment to this hateful thinking.
