Why the face of Tehwavur Rana is being hidden even after bringing India? Agencies preparing for TIP test

26/11 The accused of the Mumbai terror attack, Tawwur Rana, has not yet been made public after being brought to India from America. This raises the question among the general public that why the face of this culprit of the Mumbai attack has not been shown yet? According to sources, Tehwavur Rana is to be identified soon. Due to this process, security agencies have so far kept his face away from the media and public forums.

What is the identity parade (TIP)?

Identification Parade is a legal process in which witnesses of a crime are called to identify the accused. In this, the accused is raised in a line with 4-5 people with height and faces like him, and then the witness is asked if he can identify the accused.

In this case, Tehwavur Rana is to be identified by those who were found in India before the attack or the places where he was staying. Investigation agencies want the witness to identify the accused without any prior perception, so Rana’s face is still covered.

Tehwavur Rana’s relationship with terrorism

Tahwwur Rana is a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin who lived in America. He is accused of spying in India and joining the 26/11 attack conspiracy in association with Lashkar-e-Taiba. He is a close partner of David Coleman Headley, who had recorded many places before the Mumbai attack. After bringing India to India, the security agencies are being interrogated by Tehwwur Rana and it is believed that his return may reveal several layers and conspiracies of the Mumbai attack.

Tehwavur Rana was brought to India on Thursday evening after extradition from America. Rana was brought to Delhi under tight security from special American aircraft Gulfstream G550. International rules and protocols were fully followed during extradition. Along with Rana, IG Ashish Batra of NIA, DIG Jaya Roy, SP Prabhat Kumar, and NSG and RAW officials were also present in the flight. The aircraft at Delhi Airport landed at 6.22 pm. Rana’s fetters were opened before getting down from the plane.

Bringing in high security jail van from airport

After all the paperwork and medical examination at the airport, Rana was taken directly to Patiala House Court. A large number of policemen and officers were deployed in terms of security. He was brought to a high security jail van, in which the accused in highly sensitive cases are usually taken. Rana was seated in the middle cell of this van, around which the 3rd battalion and SWAT team were deployed.

In the court, Rana signed the Vakalatanama and interacted with the lawyer given by the court for about 20 minutes. Rana himself answered the judge’s questions. In the court room, he appeared in a simple and calm nature and there was no wrinkle of any kind on his face.
