Why does skin become oily? What is Oily skin?

If someone’s body does not produce sebum properly, then extra oil starts forming. Sebaceous glands play an important role in the formation of sebum. If its functioning is not proper, sebum starts getting produced in excess. Pores get clogged due to oil, dust and pollution. Due to this, problem of acne and pimples also starts. This is where acne-pimples become dark spots.

Activation of sebaceous glands- For sebaceous glands, it is said that they become more active in hot and humid weather. In such a situation the production of sebum increases. This extra oil causes stickiness on the face.

Sweat and Oil- The body sweats more during the rainy season. When extra oil and sweat accumulate together on the skin, it feels oily. If dust, soil and bacteria also stick, then the risk of pimples increases.

Clogged pores- Pores get clogged due to oily skin, dead cells and dirt. If it is not treated timely and properly, bacteria start forming. In such a situation, pimples and acne are formed and dark spots appear on the skin.

Change in microbiome- There are many beneficial and normal microbiomes present on the skin. Due to extra oil and moisture, their balance starts getting disturbed. Some bacteria and yeast grow and due to this the risk of fungal infection increases.
