Why Is Everyone Suddenly Talking About This Actress?

Mamitha Baiju has been in cinema for nearly a decade, steadily building her career through Malayalam and Tamil films before becoming one of the most talked-about young actresses in South Indian cinema.

She made her debut with a small role in Sarvopari Palakkaran in 2017 and later won appreciation for films such as Operation Java and Kho Kho.

Her breakthrough came with Super Sharanya in 2022, while Premalu in 2024 turned her into a major youth favourite.

But 2026 has taken her popularity to another level.

Mamitha has delivered a remarkable run of box-office successes, including multiple films that crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide.

However, she recently went viral for an unexpected reason — a health scare.

Earlier this week, Mamitha revealed in a video that she had been hospitalised with high fever and body pain. She was scheduled to travel to Australia for an Onam celebration, but doctors advised her to take complete rest.

As a result, she will miss the Lendaxis Clyde Onam 2026 event, where she was expected to attend as the chief guest.

The news quickly spread across social media, bringing fresh attention to the actress beyond her regular South Indian fan base.

Mamitha has had a dream run at the box office this year.

She played Vijayalaxmi in Jana Nayagan, which reportedly collected around Rs 327 crore worldwide.

She then appeared in Vishwanath & Sons alongside Suriya, with the film reportedly crossing Rs 240 crore globally.

Her latest release, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, co-starring Nivin Pauly and directed by Girish AD, reportedly crossed the Rs 200 crore worldwide mark in just 11 days.

The film is also expanding beyond Kerala, with dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions reaching theatres from September 4.

Mamitha was also seen in Dhanush’s Kara, which crossed the Rs 100 crore mark.

Despite this strong run, Mamitha’s popularity had largely remained concentrated in South India. Her latest health update, though unfortunate, has unexpectedly brought her wider attention, with more people now discussing her career and her remarkable box-office streak.

Born on June 22, 2001, in Kottayam, Kerala, Mamitha remains best known for her natural acting style and strong youth appeal.

With Premalu still standing as one of her most memorable performances and 2026 turning into a blockbuster year, Mamitha Baiju has clearly emerged as one of the fastest-rising stars in South Indian cinema.

For now, however, fans are more concerned about her health and are wishing her a speedy recovery.
