Be it Bollywood or South, big budget films are being made everywhere. The budget of recently released Karthik’s ‘Singham Again’ is Rs 150 crores, while around Rs 450 crores were spent in making Ajay Devgan’s ‘Singham Again’. South superstar Surya’s film ‘Kanguva’ was released on 14th November, whose budget is said to be around Rs 350 crore.
Allu Arjun’s film ‘Pushpa 2’ is going to hit the theaters on 5th December. If reports are to be believed, the cost of this film is around Rs 500 crore. Now Karan Johar has talked about the making of big budget films. Actually, Karan is a big filmmaker of Bollywood. His company Dharma Production has produced many big films, but the budget of his films is not that high. Let us know why Karan does not make big budget films.
What did Karan Johar say on the making of big budget films?
While talking to CNBC TV18, Karan Johar said, “If we make films whose budget is more than Rs 200-250 crore, then it is difficult to fund that film completely at our level alone. Even if we give a hit film, then its profit would be shared.”
He said that the real earning comes from mid-budget films, which can be easily made with the funding of a production house. He emphasized that films made with a budget of Rs 65 to 80 crores are more profitable than big budget films.
‘It will take more time to recover the money’
He also said that whenever someone thinks of making a film big, it seems that the bigger the film, the more money will come, but this is not always true. The more money spent on a film, the more time it will take to recover that money.
