England has removed Brendon McCullum from the post of head coach of the Test team. After this decision, McCallum came in front of the media for the first time and expressed his views in front of everyone. McCullum admitted that the English team could not perform well in the Test series against India and New Zealand and could not live up to the expectations of the fans, for which McCullum has apologized. McCullum said while talking to the media, we were not successful in winning those two important series. We were not able to get the results we wanted, and for that I can only apologise.
McCallum did not resign, he was fired
Brendon McCullum has also confirmed to the media that he has not resigned but has been fired by the ECB. McCullum said, ‘I was told this by patting me on the shoulder and obviously I am disappointed. But at the same time I completely respect this decision. We are in a results-driven business and our results were not good. Now the time has come to give a chance to someone else.
McCullum’s goal is ODI World Cup
Brendon McCullum told that now his next goal is to win the 2027 ODI World Cup. McCullum told that he wants to help the team and increase their strength. He said, ‘My approach is to create an environment where people can perform at their best. I admit that we have not always been perfect. Now the World Cup is not far away and I am very excited for it. We have a chance to adapt ourselves to an environment where we can win the trophy.
Performance of England Test team under McCullum’s coaching
Under the head coaching of Brendon McCullum, England played 49 Test matches in which they won 27. However, under his coaching, England could not win the Test series against India at home and now New Zealand also defeated them 2-1. With this defeat, McCullum’s Test team coaching career and Ben Stokes’s career came to an end. Stokes also said goodbye to international cricket with the defeat in this series.
