Delhi government minister Atishi is continuously in action. On Wednesday he inspected the under-construction flyover of Anand Vihar in East Delhi. He also reprimanded the officials on the ongoing delay in the construction work here. During this period, PWD Minister Atishi gave an ultimatum to the officials. He said that the remaining work should be completed by April. He has issued a warning that if the work of the concerned officers is not completed then action will be taken against them.

Delhi Minister Atishi said that this flyover is an important project towards making East Delhi jam-free. In such a situation, further delay in its construction will not be tolerated. He also instructed the officials to complete the remaining work expeditiously. He said that to increase the speed of work, the number of workers and machines should be doubled. He said that the officers should work day and night and submit progress reports every week.

Negligence in important projects will not be tolerated – Atishi

During the inspection of the flyover being built in Anand Vihar, the PWD Minister said that the Arvind Kejriwal government cannot tolerate delays in such important projects. The construction of the flyover is running behind schedule due to which thousands of vehicles have to face the problem of jam every day and people face problems.

While giving instructions to the officials, he said that every necessary step should be taken as per the newly determined timeline and the work should be completed on time and in any case, this flyover should be dedicated to the public by April.

The PWD Minister directed the officials that at present, better traffic management should be done with planning on this road stretch so that no one faces any problem while commuting here, people do not have to get stuck in traffic and their time is saved. He also directed the department to improve its planning and monitoring process so that delays in any project can be avoided in future.

Benefits to the public from new flyovers

Under this project, about 1440 meter long and six lane wide flyover is being constructed on Road No. 56 between Anand Vihar ROB and Apsara Border ROB. After its construction, people will get relief from the problem of traffic jam at Ramprastha Colony, Vivek Vihar and Shrestha Vihar red light. On an average 1.48 lakh vehicles will pass through this flyover every day. Which will provide a lot of convenience in transportation. During the construction of this flyover, other works including ramp, footpath, signage, street light, drainage, horticulture will also be done.

Flyover between Anand Vihar and Apsara Border

  • Construction of 6 lane flyover
  • Construction of 2 up-down ramps to provide direct connectivity to the flyover to the people of surrounding areas.
  • Along with the flyover, cycle lane and multi-utility zone etc. will also be constructed.
  • People using the flyover will get relief from 2 red lights.

It is estimated that about 1.48 lakh vehicles will pass on this flyover every day. Drivers will save approximately 11.07 minutes by traveling once. Besides, 42700 hours of manpower will be saved daily. Carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by 1.50 lakh tonnes. 16.57 lakh liters of fuel will be saved annually and people will save Rs 144.78 crore every year.
