Ahead of the trailer launch of Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’, Annu Kapoor questions Sai Pallavi’s casting as Sita. He also openly expressed his opinion about the film, director and Ramayana.
Even before the release of the trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s mega budget film ‘Ramayana’, a new controversy has arisen. Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has raised questions on Sai Pallavi being given the role of Mata Sita in the film. He says that the film may reach new heights in terms of technology, but the selection of the artist for a revered character like Mata Sita is a matter of utmost responsibility. Not only this, Annu Kapoor also said during the conversation that he does not know director Nitish Tiwari personally.
Why did Annu Kapoor raise questions on Sai Pallavi’s casting in ‘Ramayana’?
Giving his opinion on the film, Annu Kapoor said, “What will you make? Whoever makes it will take Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’ far ahead in terms of technology. But after that, think to whom have you given the role of Sita? Sita is the mother.” He said that Mata Sita is not just a film character but is the center of faith for crores of people. Therefore, special sensitivity and responsibility is necessary while choosing actors for such characters.

Will the new film be able to leave behind Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’?
Annu Kapoor believes that the new ‘Ramayana’ can be quite grand in terms of visual effects, technology and presentation. However, he clearly said that it is not just technology that makes a film great, but the credibility of the characters is also equally important. When he was asked about ‘Ramayana’ director Nitesh Tiwari, he gave a shocking answer. He said, “I don’t even know the person whose name you are taking. Who is he? What does he do? I don’t even know.”

When will the trailer of ‘Ramayana’ be released?
The trailer of the approximately Rs 4000 crore film ‘Ramayana’ will be released worldwide on 24 July 2026. Before this, a grand launch event will be organized at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on July 18, which will be attended by the film’s starcast and makers. Ranbir Kapoor will be seen in the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Mata Sita, Yash Ravana, Sunny Deol will be seen in the role of Lord Hanuman and Ravi Dubey will be seen in the role of Laxman in ‘Ramayana: Part One’ being made under the direction of Nitish Tiwari. The first part of the film will be released in October 2026, while the second part will hit the theaters in 2027. The film’s music was composed by Oscar winners Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman has prepared.
