Who Won Yesterday Match: What was the role of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan in taking Gujarat Titans to the final? How many runs did Vaibhav Suryavanshi score in Qualifier-2 and what records did he make? Why did Rajasthan Royals lose the match despite scoring 214 runs?
In Qualifier-2 of IPL 2026, cricket fans got to see a night full of runs, records and thrills, which will be remembered for a long time. On one hand, 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history with his bat, while on the other hand, Shubman Gill, playing captaincy innings, got Gujarat Titans a ticket to the finals. In this match played in Mullanpur, Rajasthan Royals made a huge score of 214 runs, but Gujarat achieved the target in 18.4 overs and won the match by 7 wickets. Now Gujarat Titans will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi again showed his strength
15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who was the center of discussion for Rajasthan Royals, once again impressed everyone with his explosive batting. This young batsman scored 96 runs in 47 balls. His innings included 8 fours and 7 long sixes. Vaibhav put pressure on Gujarat bowlers from the very beginning. His attack especially against the spinners was worth watching. However, he remained just 4 runs away from his century. In the 18th over, while trying to play a big shot off Kagiso Rabada, he was caught out at third man. Interestingly, Vaibhav became a victim of ‘nervous 90s’ for the second consecutive time in the IPL playoffs. Earlier in the eliminator also, he was out after scoring 97 runs.
Donovan Ferreira changed the mood of the match in the last over
At one time, it was difficult for Rajasthan team to even reach 190 runs, but Donovan Ferreira batted stormily in the last over and took the score to 214. He scored 38 runs in just 11 balls by hitting four consecutive sixes in the last over of Rashid Khan. This finishing had put Rajasthan in a strong position and it seemed that the match would not be easy for Gujarat.
Shubman Gill single-handedly changed the match
Chasing the target of 215 runs, Gujarat Titans were given a good start by captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan. Both the batsmen spoiled the rhythm of Rajasthan bowlers in the power play itself. Gill played a captaincy inning of 104 runs in just 53 balls. Rain of fours and sixes was seen in his innings. He batted in a very aggressive manner and completely turned the match towards Gujarat. Sai Sudarshan also scored 58 runs in 32 balls and made a record partnership with Gill. The opening partnership between the two had almost ended Rajasthan’s hopes of a comeback.
Rajasthan’s bowling is completely ineffective
Despite making a big score of 214 runs, Rajasthan Royals bowlers could not create pressure. Except Joffra Archer, no bowler looked effective. The team also made many mistakes in fielding, of which Gujarat took full advantage. Sai Sudarshan’s missing easy catch also cost Rajasthan dearly. After that the Gujarat batsmen took complete control of the match.
Gujarat Titans again in the final
With this victory, Gujarat Titans have once again made it to the IPL final. The balance of the team, depth of batting and form of captain Shubman Gill are making them a big contender for the title. On the other hand, this defeat was very disappointing for Rajasthan Royals. However, the emergence of a young player like Vaibhav Suryavanshi is definitely a big positive news for the team and Indian cricket.
