After the controversy escalated, CJP issued an official statement and removed Vijeta Dahiya from the post of spokesperson. The party said that his behavior was not in line with the spirit of the movement and the principles of the party. The statement said that it was considered extremely insensitive to release such a picture at a time when party workers and peaceful protesters were facing police action.
