Possibility of formation of new government by December 2
In the elections for the 288-member assembly in Maharashtra, the Mahayuti alliance retained power by winning 230 seats. The grand alliance includes BJP, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Alliance leaders said that there is a possibility of formation of a new government in Maharashtra by December 2.
Meeting of Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar
Let us tell you that Eknath Shinde reached the national capital Delhi along with senior party leaders Uday Samant and Shambhuraj Desai. Earlier, Devendra Fadnavis held a meeting with Ajit Pawar at the residence of NCP leader Sunil Tatkare. Maharashtra’s acting Chief Minister Shinde met Amit Shah separately in Delhi before the Mahayuti alliance meeting.
Meeting at Amit Shah’s residence
Eknath Shinde, who came from Mumbai, directly reached Amit Shah’s residence on Krishna Menon Marg, where BJP President JP Nadda was already present. Shinde said that he will not become an obstacle in government formation in the state and will follow the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. This cleared the way for BJP to choose its candidate as the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Thoughts on social equations in Maharashtra
Eknath Shinde said, this ‘Ladka Bhau’ (dear brother) has come to Delhi and the term ‘Ladka Bhau’ means more to me than anything else. There was talk in political circles that the central leadership of BJP would consider the social equations in Maharashtra before taking a decision on the post of Chief Minister. This has opened the race for the post of Chief Minister for leaders of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Maratha communities within the BJP.
Advocating his retention as Chief Minister
Shiv Sena leaders have advocated Shinde’s retention as chief minister, citing the success of the Ladki Behan scheme and his vision of taking government welfare facilities to the doorsteps of citizens. Caste equation is going to play a big role in the selection of the Chief Minister, because most of the 288 MLAs from all parties are from the Maratha community.
Devendra Fadnavis’s name is at the forefront
Devendra Fadnavis belongs to the Brahmin community and became the Chief Minister for the first time in 2014 and then became the Chief Minister again for some time in 2019. Sources said, if the orders of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) are followed then the chances of Devendra Fadnavis becoming the Chief Minister are bright. A close aide of Shinde said on Thursday that the caretaker chief minister was unlikely to accept the post of deputy chief minister in the new government.
adherence to coalition religion
Shiv Sena MLA and spokesperson Sanjay Shirshat, however, said that Shinde may join the cabinet. He said, he probably would not want to become Deputy Chief Minister. It is not right for a person holding the post of Chief Minister to do this. He said that Shiv Sena will ask some other leader to make him the Deputy Chief Minister. At the same time, Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde has said that he is proud of his father Eknath Shinde, who has set an example of following the coalition dharma, keeping aside personal ambitions.
Unbreakable bond with the people of Maharashtra
The MP said in a post on social media platform X that his father has an unbreakable bond with the people of Maharashtra. Shrikant Shinde said that I am proud of my father and Shiv Sena chief. He maintained trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah and set aside his personal ambitions and set a (best) example of coalition dharma.
