Who Is Sakshi Chaudhary? Indian Boxer Wins CWG Gold

Sakshi Chaudhary won the gold medal in the Women’s 51kg (Flyweight) boxing event at the Commonwealth Games 2026, defeating England’s Ruby White . With this  , the Indian Army boxer claimed the country’s third boxing gold and ninth overall gold medal with an extraordinary performance in Glasgow.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Sakshi dedicated her medal to every Indian, showing her gratitude.

 

 

Who is Sakshi Chaudhary?

Sakshi was born in Hariyana’s farmer family and serves in the . As per The New Indian Express, her father, Manoj, used to visit Bhiwani Boxing Club after travelling 80 kilometres daily to ensure that Sakshi received quality training.

Her family’s faith in Sakshi remained unshaken when shoulder injuries created a hindrance in her career, and she missed the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou.

After four years, Sakshi got an opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages, entering the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Competing in the women’s 51kg category, Sakshi began her campaign against Botswana’s Lethabo Modukanele on July 27 to make up for the opportunities she had previously lost.A 54kg boxer, Sakshi dropped to the 51kg division after Preeti Pawar secured India’s place in the 54kg category.
