The Central Government has taken a big step towards making the country’s examination system more reliable and transparent. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the formation of a high-powered Examination Reforms Task Force. The command of this task force has been handed over to Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of Infosys and the country’s leading technology expert. The government says that in the coming times, the examinations will be made technology based, safe and fair.
What did PM Modi say?
In the video message, the Prime Minister said that the government is continuously taking steps to safeguard the future of the students. Strict action is being taken against exam malpractices, many accused are in jail and fast-track courts have been created for the cases. He also said that work is underway to bring more stringent legal provisions in Parliament.

Why was Nandan Nilekani elected?
Nandan Nilekani is counted among the most eminent technology experts of the country. He is the co-founder and chairman of Infosys. As the founding Chairman of UIDAI, he led the Aadhaar project and played a key role in strengthening India’s digital public infrastructure. Nilekani, who studied electrical engineering from IIT Bombay, has received many national and international honors including Padma Bhushan. In the year 2024, TIME also included him among the 100 most influential people in the AI field.

Will the examination system change?
According to the government, this task force will recommend long-term reforms in the examination system. Its objective is to increase transparency with maximum use of technology, prevent incidents like paper leaks and strengthen the credibility of future examinations. New reforms can be implemented soon based on the recommendations of the task force.
