Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth’s military career began in 1986, when he was commissioned in the Armored Corps. He is an alumnus of the National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla. From the very beginning, his focus was on operational experience and ground command, which gradually took him to the top leadership of the army.
Career and achievements of General Dheeraj Seth
Lieutenant General Dheeraj Seth is one of the few senior officers of the Indian Army whose operational command experience has been extremely wide and multi-dimensional. He commanded the prestigious Armored Regiment ‘Skinner’s Horse’ during counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir, where his leadership abilities were particularly appreciated. Subsequently commanding a strike corps on the Western Front, he led important operational preparations and operations in the desert sector. During his career he also served in two major operational commands, the South Western Command and the Southern Command, a role that very few officers in the Indian Army get to hold simultaneously. After promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General, he commanded the ‘Sudarshan Chakra Corps’ and subsequently served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Delhi Area, where he was responsible for many national and international level military operations.
