Many players suffered injuries in the IPL 2026 season, many of which were ruled out of the entire tournament. But some players got injured while batting during the match and had to leave their innings midway. Something similar happened with Rajasthan Royals star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who retired midway in the Qualifier-2 match against Gujarat Titans. Jadeja suddenly suffered from ‘tennis elbow’ pain, due to which he had to leave the field. This is the same injury which troubled Sachin Tendulkar for a long time.
On the evening of Friday 29th May in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. Second qualifier against Gujarat Titans Rajasthan came out to bat first. After the fall of 2 wickets in the first two overs, Jadeja was promoted to number four. Jadeja also started batting aggressively as soon as he came and scored runs rapidly and made the team comeback. But then pain arose in his right elbow and the medical team had to come to examine him.
Jadeja suffered tennis elbow
All this happened on the last ball of the eighth over. The Rajasthan Royals physio examined him for a long time and when the pain did not subside, Jadeja retired and returned. By this time he had scored 34 runs in just 19 balls. While Jadeja was sitting in the dressing room, Harsha Bhogle, who was doing commentary, revealed that Jadeja was suffering from ‘tennis elbow’. Due to tennis elbow, Sachin Tendulkar had to face a lot of trouble for a few years in his career. Even after this, cricket fans got to hear the name of this injury for the first time.
However, it was a matter of relief that after some time, Jadeja came back to bat and played a big role in taking Rajasthan to 214 runs. However, after returning to the field, he could not bat like before and kept struggling. Ultimately Jadeja returned unbeaten after scoring 45 runs in 34 balls.
Fourth batsman to retire hurt
He was the fourth batsman to be retired hurt this season. First of all, Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma retired hurt while batting. After him, something similar happened with Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant and he left the innings midway due to injury. Although he returned to bat again. Similarly, Sai Sudarshan of Gujarat also retired hurt in a match. However, he also returned to bat again.
