BCCI On Asia Cup Trophy: The Indian cricket team may have won the Asia Cup title last year, but even months after this historic victory, the controversy over the trophy has not ended. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet received the Asia Cup trophy. The ongoing controversy over this entire matter is not ending and now BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has shared a big update on this.

Why was there a dispute? India had refused to take the trophy

This whole controversy started after the final match of the Asia Cup played in Dubai on September 28 last year. In the final match, India won the title by defeating Pakistan by 5 wickets. According to the rules, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav had to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council President Mohsin Naqvi. But, the Indian team had decided not to shake hands with Pakistani players during the entire tournament in protest against the Pahalgam terrorist attack and in support of ‘Operation Sindoor’. Along with this, Team India also clearly refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, because along with being the ACC President, he is also the Minister of Pakistan.

ACC is not giving any answer

While talking to PTI, Rajeev Shukla clarified the situation. He said, ‘As far as the Asia Cup trophy is concerned, we have repeatedly requested the ACC President and Directors to hand over the trophy. But no reply has been received from their side yet. We have talked to them, but what difference does it make if they don’t hand over the trophy? The whole world knows that we live there. Even though we have not got the trophy yet, we are trying to achieve it. We are the winners.

Let us tell you, after the Indian team’s denial, it was claimed in the reports that Mohsin Naqvi had taken the trophy with him to the hotel and later it was locked in the (ACC) office in Dubai. According to the rules, this trophy cannot be taken anywhere else nor handed over to anyone without the approval of the President. BCCI held several rounds of talks with Pakistan Cricket Board and ACC regarding this issue and the matter even reached ICC, but till now no concrete solution has been found.
