Akal Takht announced ‘tankhaiya’ religious punishment of Sukhbir Singh Badal for the ‘mistakes’ committed by Shiromani Akali Dal and its government. Takht ordered him to clean utensils and shoes in the Golden Temple of Amritsar as a servant. Now Sukhbir Singh Badal will have to face the religious punishment given by Takht.
Sukhbir Singh Badal has to do duty outside the clock tower of Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) for 2 days from 3rd December due to leg injury. It is being told that he will perform this duty sitting on a wheelchair. During the punishment, Sukhbir Singh Badal will have the amnesty plaque worn by Akal Takht around his neck and a lance in his hand. He will undergo punishment here for two days.

After this, he will do duty for 2 days at Sri Keshgarh Sahib, 2 days at Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabo, 2 days at Sri Muktsar Sahib and 2 days at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, wearing sevadar attire and carrying a lance in his hand. The five Singh Sahibans also announced religious punishment for other Sikh leaders who served as ministers in the SAD cabinet between 2007 and 2017.
Exemption from punishment due to health
Although Sukhbir Badal and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, like other Akali Dal leaders, have been given the punishment of washing the washrooms of Gurudwaras and washing utensils of Langar Hall, but due to their health, they were exempted from this punishment and served sitting on a wheel chair. Instructions have been given to give duty.
Before announcing the punishment on behalf of Akal Takht, Sukhbir Singh Badal admitted his mistakes. He admitted that he had made a mistake. This also included allegations of forgiving Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
