A remake culture in Bollywood has been increasing with each passing year. The music composers often remake old classic songs to create buzz amongst the masses for their upcoming movies. Varun Dhawan’s is a new example of it. The makers remade Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen’s song, Chunnari Chunnari, from Biwi No 1 for the film. While the 90s lovers didn’t like the new version, the young generation showered love on it. Sanjay Gupta, who is a famous filmmaker in Bollywood, has now questioned the remake culture in Hindi cinema and slammed the filmmakers for it.
Sanjay Gupta Slams Bollywood After Chunnari Chunnari Remake
took to his X handle and mentioned in his post that in 2026, the makers are using old superhit songs and making a remix of them. He also revealed that none of the good old songs are left to remix in the future. He is afraid of the fact that in 2046, the musicians will remake the remixes released in 2026 if the culture continues.
Sanjay wrote, “My genuine concern: what will they remix in 2046? The remixes?” The Musafir director also gave an hypothetical situation and called it important.

He feels after some years, Bollywood will be banned from prequels, sequels, remakes and remixes. They will only focus on original ideas. He concluded, “What happens? A) Best era of Indian cinema begins. B) Industry collapses in 6 months.” (sic)

It has to be noted that Varun Dhawan’s Chunnari Chunnari also features Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The David Dhawan film, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, is releasing on June 5, 2026, in theatres.
Sanjay Gupta’s tweet is now going viral on social media and netizens can’t stop reacting to it. Earlier, Sanjay had been in the news for questioning FWICE on ‘banning’ Ranveer Singh over his Don 3 dispute.
Reacting to his hard-hitting tweet, FWICE’s general secretary, Ashok Dubey, hit back at him and recalled Sanjay Gupta’s fallout with Jackie Shroff for Mumbai Saga. The FWICE recalled how they helped Sanjay resolve the matter then.
