New Delhi: Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Geetanjali J Angmo has made it clear on Saturday that the Parliament march to be held on July 20 will take place. Delhi Police may have taken climate activist Sonam to Safdarjung Hospital, but it will not affect the protest. He told that Wangchuk’s fast is still continuing.
After all, what will happen in Parliament on 20th July?
- Speaking to reporters outside the hospital, Angmo said, “The July 20 march is confirmed. It is the responsibility of the government and policy makers to change the education system. Our job is to tell them that the system has completely collapsed.” He said that this movement is no longer limited to just the issue of NEET paper leak, but has become a bigger campaign to reform the education system.
- Gitanjali said, “This movement is not just against the paper leak. It is to awaken the conscience of the entire country, and it has awakened to a great extent.” She said that Wangchuk has also refused to take electrolyte powder and is continuing his fast.
What was the order of Delhi High Court?
- Raising questions on hospitalization, Angmo said that the Delhi High Court had only given instructions for regular health check-up and had not ordered hospitalization.
- He said, “There was no mention of hospitalization anywhere in the High Court order. The order simply said that a person’s health is paramount and should be regularly monitored. Therefore, this is not in accordance with the High Court order. No treatment is going on right now. Only monitoring and tests are being done, and we are actually going to get the tests done from an outside lab.
- He further said that the family wants to get the medical report independently examined before starting any kind of treatment.
- Delhi Police said Wangchuk was shifted to the hospital following the directions of the High Court and medical advice given his deteriorating health. Police also said that maximum restraint was exercised during this period.
Wife said Sonam Wanguchak was only taking salt water
- Angmo said, “Since they are not giving the reports we sought, and the figures they are giving, like potassium level reached 2.9. Yesterday it was 4.3, so today it cannot change that much. We want to cross-check it with another lab before giving any medicine.”
- Gitanjali also informed that Wangchuk is not taking sugar and is continuing his fast with only salt water.
- He said, “He is still on fast; the fast is continuing because he is not taking any sugar. He is only drinking salt water which he was taking earlier also.
