KEM Hospital ordered investigation
Taking cognizance of Dr. Sejal Pawar’s viral statement, KEM Hospital administration has ordered an immediate investigation and has asked the committee to submit the report by Friday. Considering the seriousness of this matter, Maharashtra Cyber Police has registered a case against him.
Know what was the controversy, Sejal Pawar apologized
Actually, after the video of ‘370 rupees biryani’, another video of comedian Pranit More’s show is going viral on social media since two days. In this video, the MBBS final year student and influencer, while interacting with the audience (crowd work), had made a very objectionable joke on the size of the private parts of a male dead body. The video of this conversation was put uncensored by a comedian in the form of a reel on social media which quickly went viral. In the viral video, Sejal Pawar is seen saying that she and her colleagues used to look at and make fun of the private parts of dead bodies of men donated for medical research and dissection at the Medical Students College (KEM Hospital, Mumbai). After his comment people trolled him fiercely. There has been a demand to cancel even the medical license. The medical students’ association and a large number of doctors have protested against his action.
The hospital administration believes that this comment has hurt the dignity of the hospital and the entire medical profession. After this statement came to light, doctors and especially members of Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors reacted sharply on social media. Doctors say that “such irresponsible statements tarnish the image of doctors among the public and make patients lose faith in doctors.”
What did Sejal say in apology?
Medical student Sejal Pawar has publicly apologized after facing heavy criticism over her comments made during comedian Pranit More’s stand-up comedy show. In her clarification, Sejal said that this was her first comedy show and she had no idea that what she said a month ago would become such a big issue. After being badly surrounded, Sejal has unfollowed everyone on Instagram. His bio was made blank and the accounts he followed were unfollowed.
“I am not here to justify or defend what was said,” he said in a video message. I take responsibility for this. He further said that the incident was a learning experience for him and made him think about the way he talks about sensitive topics.
Insulting body donors
People on social media strongly objected to Sejal’s comment and called it a grave insult to ‘body donors’. People argue that if a doctor talks like this, then in future people will stop donating their bodies for medical studies.
Demand and complaint for cancellation of license
There was huge outrage after the video went viral. Demands have started rising on social media to stop Sejal from practicing MBBS and canceling her medical license.
