The emotional connection between Muslim-dominated village Alipur and Khamenei dates back to 1981-82, when he reached this village. At that time, almost the entire population of the village belonged to the Shia community. Relations were further strengthened when Khamenei inaugurated the ‘Imam Khomeini Hospital’ here. This hospital was built with the help of the Iranian government. Therefore, for almost everyone in the village, he was not just a political figure but also a religious guru who made a historic journey through the village streets.

After which incident was the hospital built?

When Khamenei came here and visited Alipore, an incident happened. A woman had passed away, and people requested her to pray. When they asked the reason for death, they were told that she was pregnant and there was no hospital in the area. An attempt was being made to take him to Bangalore but he died on the way. Hearing this, he got angry and announced to build the hospital and bear the expenses. Later a hospital was built there. It is known as IK Hospital.
