UP Nand Baba Dairy Mission: Thousands of cattle farmers and investors of the state participated in the concluding program of ‘Milk Golden Mahotsav 2026’ organized in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. During this, cow rearing of indigenous breeds and modern dairy techniques were discussed. Employment opportunities are also being created on a large scale under the Nand Baba Milk Mission.
Lucknow, 18 April. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is setting new records in the field of milk production. Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development Department celebrated 50 years of its establishment with great pomp as ‘Milk Golden Mahotsav 2026’. The valedictory function was held on the second day of the two-day ‘Milk Golden Mahotsav’ organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow. At the beginning of the program, the congratulatory message sent by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to the department on completion of 50 years of the department was read out. In which he described milk development as the backbone of the rural economy.
10 thousand cattle farmers took part in ‘Milk Golden Mahotsav’
- About 10 thousand cattle rearers, milk producers and investors from the state participated in the festival, while lakhs of other people joined the program through webcasting. On the concluding occasion of the festival, a detailed discussion was held by the experts on ‘Indigenous breed cow rearing’ and ‘Latest dairy technology’, so that Uttar Pradesh can be kept as the leading state of the country in milk production.
- During the program, Additional Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meshram shared detailed information regarding the development of rural economy through cow rearing of indigenous breeds in the current scenario. Also Milk Commissioner Dhanalakshmi K. Informed the milk producers about the resolution and efforts of the state government to keep the state as the leading state in the country in milk production.
Dairy sector boosts economy by ₹1.72 lakh crore
Dairy sector has an important place in the rural economy of the state, which is contributing ₹ 1.72 lakh crore to the gross value addition of the state. So far, under the Nand Baba Milk Mission, an amount of ₹ 84 crore has been sent directly to more than 10 thousand beneficiaries through DBT.
796 MoUs in UP, 60 thousand new employment opportunities
So far, 796 MOUs worth more than ₹ 25 thousand crore have been executed by the department, which will generate about 60 thousand jobs. Apart from this, 72 projects worth ₹ 2 thousand crores have been started under Ground Breaking Ceremony 5.0. During the event, 59 new MoUs worth more than ₹3 thousand crore were signed, including with major companies like Ananda Dairy, Gyan and Param Dairy, which will create 13 thousand new jobs.
1.50 lakh milk producers will get direct benefits
More than 4 thousand new primary milk cooperative societies have been formed in the state, from which about 1.50 lakh milk producers are directly or indirectly benefiting. Serving and retired officers and employees who have made incomparable contributions to the department were honored. Also, successful milk producers also shared their success stories.
