Social media influencer Amaan Siddiqui told ANI that he helped a driver whose e-rickshaw was lying idle for the whole day. The driver used to drive a rickshaw on hire and due to the vehicle being closed his entire day’s earnings were affected. Aman connected the battery system and made the settings normal, after which the vehicle restarted. Such incidents have increased the concern among e-rickshaw drivers, because for them the vehicle is the biggest means of livelihood. Stoppage of vehicle midway not only causes financial loss but can also affect the safety of passengers.
What is the government doing?
In view of the viral claims and the emerging cases, the Delhi Transport Department has started investigating the technical aspects related to apps like BAT-BMS and Epoch Li-ion. The department is investigating whether some battery management systems are posing a risk due to lack of safety standards. If the investigation reveals technical flaws, then implementing stricter security standards for such BMS or taking other necessary steps can be considered.

Experts believe that e-rickshaw owners should get their batteries and BMS checked from time to time.
