Heated debate with fellow MPs in the House, then the matter reached the Speaker
Earlier in the day, after the Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned, Kalyan Banerjee had a heated argument with some MPs. According to the information, National Citizens Party of India (NCPI) MPs Mithali Bagh, Shatabdi Roy and Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar were also present during this period.
However, official information about what started the dispute has not been revealed. Other opposition MPs intervened and tried to calm the matter. Later, the concerned MPs reached Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s chamber to meet him and informed him about the entire incident. It is noteworthy that after the West Bengal Assembly elections, many TMC MPs had separated from the party leadership and joined NCPI and started sitting separately in the Lok Sabha.
A day before, there was controversy in Mamata Banerjee’s program also.
Kalyan Banerjee has come into controversy for the second time in the last 24 hours. A day before this, at TMC’s Martyr’s Day programme, he had an altercation on stage with party chief Mamata Banerjee.
It was reported that the program was running behind schedule and all the leaders were requested to give brief speeches. Despite this, Kalyan Banerjee continued the speech for about 23 minutes. He was signaled from the stage to end his speech, after which an altercation broke out between the two. After the program, Kalyan Banerjee said that he was extremely hurt by this development. These developments unfolding in two consecutive days have brought TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee to the center of political discussion. Now political circles are keeping an eye on his suspension and the growing differences within the party.
