The body of a girl found in the Western Yamuna Canal in Karnal, Haryana has shocked the entire area. On Sunday, a semi-nude dead body of a girl was seen floating in the canal. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot, took out the body, took it into custody and kept it in the mortuary of Kalpana Chawla Medical College for identification.
On Monday, the body was identified as that of 21-year-old Meenakshi, who was a resident of Jhinjhadi village in Karnal. Meenakshi was doing a lab technician course and was taking training in a government hospital.
Left home on scooter, did not return
According to family members, Meenakshi’s elder sister got married on July 12 and she had come to her maternal home these days. There was a plan to visit relatives’ house on Sunday. In this connection, Meenakshi had left the house on a scooter to get her sister’s clothes. She was wearing a shirt at that time and had gone towards CHD City, but did not return even till late evening. After a lot of searching, the family lodged a missing complaint with the Sadar police station.
Body found, but leaves many questions
The very next day Meenakshi’s body was found in the Western Yamuna Canal. Family members say that when the body was recovered, there was no shirt on his body and his scooter has also not been found yet. In such a situation, many questions are being raised whether this case is just an accident or there is some criminal incident hidden behind it. The family members have expressed apprehension that something serious has happened to Meenakshi and the entire matter should be investigated impartially and thoroughly.
What did the police say?
Sadar police station’s investigating officer Manjeet said that the body of an unknown girl was found in a semi-nude state in the Western Yamuna Canal on Sunday. The body was taken into custody and kept in the mortuary for identification. After identification on Monday, the body was handed over to the relatives after post-mortem. At present the police is seriously investigating this entire matter. The girl’s scooter is being searched and the investigation is being carried forward keeping in mind every possible aspect including the cause of death. Further action will be taken on the basis of post mortem report and other evidence.
