Nowadays, in order to keep themselves fit and slim, people are including things like dry fruits, granola, peanut butter in their diet. But experts say that some healthy foods have high calorie content, which people should not ignore.
Due to increase in calorie intake, weight also starts increasing. In such a situation, people often get confused as to why they are not able to lose weight even after eating healthy. Siddharth Singh told the reason for not losing weight
Siddharth explains that weight gain or loss completely depends on calorie balance. You should burn more calories than you consume in a day. He told that when we call a food “healthy”, it means its good quality and nutrients, not that it has less calories.
Siddharth says, “Healthy food does not always mean low-calorie food. Food is made of protein, carbohydrate or fat and all of them contain calories. Therefore, just by looking at the healthy tag, it is not right to assume that it will not increase weight.”
If understood in simple language, nuts are quite healthy, but they contain high amount of fat. In such a situation, even a small amount can provide a lot of calories. Similarly, the oil used in cooking is also rich in calories and many times people are not able to guess how much oil they have used.
Misunderstanding regarding smoothie also
Regarding smoothie, he said that people add many things to it to enhance the taste, due to which it becomes a high-calorie shake instead of a healthy drink. At the same time, extra sugar and oil are often added to granola, due to which its calories increase significantly. Which can cause weight gain instead of loss.
How to take care of diet for fat loss
Siddharth says that the total amount of calories in any food depends on the quantity in which you are eating it. Therefore, people trying to lose weight should pay attention to portion control. He advised that while eating dry fruits, take only a handful. While using oil, measure it with a spoon so that you have an idea of the quantity. Apart from this, while making smoothie, do not add more things in it than required and use granola only to enhance the taste instead of the entire breakfast.
Apart from this you can take a balanced diet. In which every plate should have a balance of protein, carbohydrate and healthy fat. Due to this, the stomach remains full for a long time and one does not feel hungry again and again, which helps in controlling weight.
