The most dangerous phase of heat wave is yet to come; ‘Alert’ issued in many states

  • Extreme heat wave: According to the latest assessment of IMD, large parts of North-West and Central India will have to endure this unbearable heat for the next 4 to 5 days. At the same time, severe heat wave conditions will persist in eastern and peninsular India for the next 3-4 days.
  • Condition of Delhi-NCR: In the national capital Delhi, the mercury was recorded between 43°C to 45°C on Sunday. The Meteorological Department has warned that this fierce form of the sun will continue till at least May 27 in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh.
  • Long wait in Rajasthan: The problems are a little longer for the citizens of Rajasthan, because there is a possibility of this heat wave extending till May 30. Along with this, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Telangana will also continue to suffer from the scorching heat this week.

‘Western Disturbance’ is coming: The weather will change from May 28

  • Relief date fixed: The biggest news of relief for the scorching people is that a powerful Western Disturbance is going to hit North-Western India from May 28.
  • Historic drop in temperature: According to senior scientist of IMD, Akhil Srivastava, as soon as this system becomes active, a huge drop of 6°C to 8°C in temperature can be recorded in the affected plains within the next three days.
  • Suspense of rain and hailstorm: Satellite images have revealed that a large and curved group of clouds has settled over the Western Himalayas. Due to its impact, there is a possibility of heavy rain, lightning and hailstorm in the high hilly areas, while in the plain areas there will be dust storms and showers along with thunderstorms.

Monsoon makes strong entry on Kerala coast before normal date

  • Knock before time: In sharp contrast to the dry and deadly heat of North India, the weather in South India has taken a complete turn. The IMD has indicated that the Southwest Monsoon is set to hit the Kerala coast around May 26, about a week before its normal date (June 1).
  • Deepening sea system: Deep convective clouds and strong thunderstorm systems can be clearly seen in the sky over South-Eastern Arabian Sea, Kerala and Lakshadweep, testifying to the aggressive arrival of Monsoon.
  • Heavy rain warning: The Meteorological Department has issued an alert that as the monsoon progresses, there may be extremely heavy rainfall with torrential rains in different parts of Kerala between May 28 and June 3. Apart from this, heavy rains with strong winds have also been predicted in parts of Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep and Maharashtra.

Strict instructions from the administration: Be alert and take care of these things

Meteorologists believe that this change due to western disturbance could be the last hottest summer of this season. After May 28, most parts of North and Central India will get much-needed relief from the continuous scorching heat.

However, officials have warned that when the weather changes between late May and early June, the risk of lightning shifts along with severe thunderstorms will increase in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi-NCR. Therefore, people need to be extremely cautious about these sudden storms. To avoid heatstroke, avoid going out in the afternoon and keep drinking adequate amount of water.
