From the concrete jungles of Mumbai to the historical and religious places of Raigarh, everywhere only the kingdom of water and horrifying scenes of devastation are visible. At some places, multi-storey buildings are being razed to the ground, while at other places centuries-old temples have been submerged. Big question on safety: The visuals immediately after the accident are shocking, where only concrete debris, bent rods and clouds of dust are visible all around. The local administration and relief rescue team immediately reached the spot and took charge. Flood water entered Ashtavinayak Dham: Even the sanctum sanctorum submerged, such a crisis for the first time in history!
A picture emerged from Sudhagarh taluka of Raigarh district, away from Mumbai, which surprised the devotees. Shri Ballaleshwar Temple, one of the famous Ashtavinayak pilgrimage sites in Maharashtra, has been completely flooded. Due to record breaking rainfall in the mountains, the water level of a local stream (river) flowing through the eastern side of the temple suddenly rose by several feet.

Within no time, the boiling muddy water entered inside the temple complex. At present, the huge assembly hall of the temple is completely submerged in water and the flood water has reached inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Lord, due to which there is silence and suspense in the entire area.

Ocean takes over the tracks: Nalasopara-Virar route stalled, local speeds halted
Local trains, which are called the lifeline of Mumbai, seem helpless at this time. The tracks between Nalasopara and Virar stations have become completely invisible. Several feet of water has accumulated on the railway track, due to which the movement of trains on this route has come to a complete halt. Even if the trains are running, they are delayed by hours, due to which lakhs of working people are stranded at the stations. Mumbai’s entire transport system has completely collapsed amid bad roads and submerged tracks.

‘Ultimate silence’ on Pune-Mumbai Expressway and turbulent times on Marine Drive
If we talk about roadways, the situation is even more serious. In view of the direct threat of heavy rains and continuous landslides, the administration has taken a big decision. Traffic on both sides of the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and the old Mumbai-Pune Highway has been completely blocked until further orders. There are mile long queues of vehicles on the highway and there is only silence all around.

Chief Minister’s strict warning: danger of leptospirosis and restrictions like ‘lockdown’
In view of the worsening situation, State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis himself has taken command. He has appealed to the public to be extremely cautious and said that people should avoid coming in contact with contaminated flood water, because there is the highest risk of spreading a deadly disease like leptospirosis. Taking immediate action, the administration has declared holiday as a precautionary measure in all schools and colleges in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Residents have been clearly instructed not to step out of their homes unless there is some urgent work and to stay away from the sea shore. The coming 24 hours are going to be very sensitive for Maharashtra.
