On the eve of the third and final ODI the series at the Lord’s Cricket Ground on Sunday (July 19), Rohit Sharma and India head coach Gautam Gambhir shared a laugh at the famous balcony.
There have been rumours that the Lord’s game could be Rohit’s last game as the management and selectors don’t see him playing the 2027 ODI World Cup. Rohit hasn’t commented on these rumours yet while the BCCI has denied that the Lord’s game will be Rohit’s last.
“There are lot of speculations going on in media about Rohit Sharma’s future. I want to firmly assert that there has been no such discussion that Rohit will be playing his last match at Lord’s on Sunday. Rohit is a regular member of the Indian ODI team and he will continue to represent the country as long as he is in the scheme of things. In other words, Lord’s ODI won’t be his last match,” BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said in a statement before the last game of the series.
The former captain and present coach tried to silence the rumours by sharing a light-hearted moment on the eve of the must-win game.
