Shares of Voltas, one of the key companies from the Tata Group stable, are expected to be on investors’ radar on Monday, June 22, as the leading room air conditioner maker said it has crossed the milestone of selling one million units within the first three months of the ongoing 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27).
The multinational consumer electronics and home appliance company claimed it has achieved the landmark in record time and further strengthened its leadership position in the Indian room air conditioner (RAC) market.
In 2023-24, Voltas claimed to have achieved the two-million RAC sales milestone, which was the industry’s first.
What you need to know
Voltas’ milestone of selling over 1 million room air-conditioner units in the first quarter of FY27 highlights the strength in demand for cooling appliances and could have positive implications for the broader AC manufacturing ecosystem. Besides Voltas, other listed AC makers such as Blue Star, LG Electronics India, and Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India may be in focus as investors assess the industry’s demand outlook.
The development could also draw attention to contract manufacturers such as Amber Enterprises, E-Pack Durable, and PG Electroplast, which supply air-conditioners and components to leading brands. Higher industry sales typically translate into increased production volumes, better capacity utilisation, and stronger order inflows for these companies.
The positive demand signal may also benefit ancillary players across the AC value chain.
Refrigerant gas producers such as SRF, Gujarat Fluorochemicals, and Navin Fluorine International could be in focus as rising AC production and installations generally support demand for cooling gases.
Dixon Technologies may also be watched, given its growing presence in consumer durables and electronics manufacturing, although its direct exposure to the room AC segment is lower than that of Amber and E-Pack Durable.
Overall, the announcement reinforces expectations of healthy growth across India’s air-conditioning ecosystem, spanning brands, contract manufacturers, component suppliers, and chemical producers.
Key details to know
Earlier in April this year, rival LG Electronics India also announced that it has crossed the one-million air-conditioner sales mark in the first quarter of calendar year 2026, ahead of the peak summer season, underscoring strong demand momentum in the country’s RAC market.
The Indian RAC industry size is estimated to be approximately 12.5 -14 million units annually.
Voltas attributed the milestone to a series of strategic initiatives undertaken over the past year, including a refreshed product portfolio with differentiated offerings across premium, mid-range, and value segments, enabling it to cater to a wider spectrum of consumers and strengthen its presence across key price points.
“Crossing the one million sales milestone within the first three months of a financial year is a significant achievement for Voltas. Achieving this landmark in record time reflects the trust that consumers have placed in our brand and the strength of the execution delivered by our teams and channel partners across the country,” Voltas Managing Director Mukundan Menon said.
The achievement reinforces Voltas’ position as India’s leading AC brand and reflects the strength of its product portfolio, distribution network, and consumer-centric approach, he added.
The company, in a late-night statement on Saturday, said it also enhanced consumer engagement through marketing initiatives, including campaigns for its AI-enabled product range, supported by its extensive distribution and service network across the country.
With summer continuing in several parts of the country, the company said it remains focused on addressing the growing cooling needs of consumers while driving the next phase of growth in the room air-conditioner category.
Indian room air conditioner market
The Indian RAC market is considered very competitive, where players like Voltas, LG, Daikin, BlueStar, Hitachi, Panasonic, and Lloyd are operating.
The RAC industry expects good sales this year after a dull year in 2025, as sales were impacted due to unseasonal rainfall, along with other factors.
The industry witnessed good growth in 2024, when several parts of the country witnessed intense heatwaves.
This year, the air conditioning industry has already had multiple hikes after new energy labelling norms were implemented by BEE from January 1, 2026.
The second round was driven primarily by escalating raw material inputs, such as copper, plastic, ocean freight, and surging global prices caused by the West Asia crisis.
Besides the rupee depreciation against the US Dollar, it also witnessed a surge in imported inflation.
Voltas Q4 FY26 earnings
Voltas Ltd, the air-conditioning maker and engineering services provider, reported a 51.87% decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹113.43 crore for the March quarter of FY26 (Q4 FY26).
It had posted a consolidated net profit of ₹235.69 crore a year ago.
Voltas’ revenue from operations was ₹4,887.83 crore in the March quarter against ₹4,767.56 crore in the year-ago quarter.
Total expenses of Voltas increased 5.3% to $4,709.95 crore in the March quarter.
Voltas total income, which includes other income, rose 1.7% to $4,930.46 crore in the fourth quarter of FY26.
In the March quarter, Voltas’ revenue from “unitary cooling products for comfort and commercial use”, which has room AC business, inched up 1% at ₹3,493.44 crore. It was ₹3,458.43 crore in the corresponding period of the last fiscal.
“Despite geopolitical-related disruptions creating volatility in raw material availability, logistics, energy costs, and currency markets, the segment delivered a progressive performance across both volumes and revenue,” it said.
However, margins of the segment, which also includes Voltbek business, were impacted by commodity inflation and currency depreciation, partly offset by cost reduction and value engineering initiatives across sourcing and manufacturing.
Its revenue from Engineering Products and Services rose 4.64% to ₹1,190.34 crore.
