Team India has the last chance to achieve success on the England tour. After losing the T20 series, the Indian team made a good start in the ODI series and won the first match. But the same bad condition was seen again in the second match and England leveled the series in Cardiff ODI. Now the last match is going to be held on July 19 at Lord’s, where there is the last chance to win the series. But the problem is that India’s batting remains the biggest problem at Lord’s because the record of the team’s star batsmen is not good here.
This match to be held at Lord’s will be the first experience of this historic stadium for many players of Team India. Stars like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have played at Lord’s before but players like Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan will play here for the first time. Some players have played test matches here but there are many for whom this match will be like a debut in this stadium.
For now let’s talk about batting because batting has been the worst on this entire tour. If we look at the record of the two most experienced and most famous batsmen of the team, it is very bad at Lord’s. Star batsman Virat Kohli has played 3 ODI matches at Lord’s but he has scored only 77 runs with his bat. He could not score a half-century even once.
The condition of Rohit, who is already struggling with poor form, is even worse here. The veteran opener has played 2 ODIs at Lord’s and scored only 15 runs. Similarly, KL Rahul played only one match here and in that too he could not open his account.
At the same time, batsmen/all-rounders like team captain Shubhman Gill, vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dubey and Akshar Patel will also play an ODI match on this ground for the first time. Among these, Gill is the only batsman who has played a Test match at Lord’s but his performance was not good. Gill could score only 22 runs in both the innings of that Test match played in 2025.
Team India’s batting has been mixed in this series also. Kohli had failed in the first match but he had scored 65 runs in the second. Captain Gill had scored 80 runs in the first match and 31 runs in the second. Iyer has scored 35 and 66 runs in this series. In such a situation, there is some hope from these batsmen but the biggest worry is about Rohit Sharma, who did not look in rhythm at all in both the matches and could score only 37 runs in 2 innings. In such a situation, it is natural to be worried about Team India’s batting in the decisive match.
