VinFast has been betting big on the Indian market and the Vietnamese automaker has even commenced production of VF6 and VF7 in their Tamil Nadu facility. Now, VinFast is testing a new VF5, which brings a new fascia, revised headlights and tail lights along with a completely unique interior.

However, there is scope for expansion and improvement in the future and VinFast’s latest design patents in the country lend us a glimpse of future products.   and VF3, Minio Green and EC van have been patented already. Now, VF6 facelift and VF9 facelift have been patented, sparking launch speculations.

As of now, VinFast VF6 has never been facelifted or updated ever since production started in 2024 for the Vietnamese market. For the first time, a facelift for VF6 has emerged in the form of patent designs in Indian directory. In the new patents, we can see refreshed design while keeping the overall silhouette same.

Front fascia has been updated and we can see new lighting elements with VF6 facelift. Large LED DRLs converge at the centre where there will be a Vinfast logo. Headlights are now much sleeker and they are vertically arranged in a triangular housing. The lower grille area is now larger and looks cleaner.

Side profile is vastly carried forward with the same silhouette, but now gets new wheels with aerodynamic design. Rear is vastly carried forward too and we can see rear LED signature and brake lights below, look more or less the same. But the housing for turn indicators and reversing light is much sleeker now, commanding a new bumper and redesigned rear quarter panels.

There might be an update to the interiors, but is not revealed in these new patents. Powertrains are likely to be the same as current model – a 59.6 kWh battery, powering a single motor with FWD layout, promising up to 468 km of range. Will this facelift launch in India too? Only time will tell.

VinFast VF9 Facelift Patented

Unlike VF6, VinFast has never launched VF9 in India, making the new VF9 facelift design patents very interesting. For starters, new VF9 facelift feels more like a new generation because not only does it offer overhauled front and rear, the side looks like it is stretched like in a limousine and the extra length seems to be proudly highlighted between front and rear doors.

Front fascia is completely overhauled with connected LED DRLs, split LED headlight setup which is much sleeker, a massive grille with vertical slats and vertical air intakes flanking it. Rear gets vertical detailing like in the front, while connected LED signature looks sort of similar. Currently, VinFast VF9 measures 5,120 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, up to 1,721 mm tall and has a 3,150 mm long wheelbase and up to 204 mm ground clearance. New VF9 facelift looks larger.

VinFast VF9 makes perfect sense for Indian market as a flagship full-size luxury electric SUV with all the amenities one could ask at flagship level.
