Raipur, July 2, 2026/ The state level Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural (VB-G Ram Ji) scheme, which provides a new guarantee of employment and livelihood to rural families, was launched today from Gram Panchayat Gandaikhurd under Bodla development block of Kabirdham district. Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Vijay Sharma participated in the program as the chief guest. At the national level, the scheme was launched by Union Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. During this time, he was also associated with the state level inauguration ceremony organized at Gram Panchayat Gandaikhurd through virtual medium.

Rural families will get 125 days employment

Union Rural Development Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission Rural (VB-Jiramji) scheme is being implemented from today. The objective of this scheme is that no poor person in the country remains unemployed due to lack of work. Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for this important initiative, he said that while the scheme will provide 125 days of employment to rural laborers, it will also give a new impetus to the development works in the villages and will change the picture of rural areas. Shri Chouhan said that respecting the sweat of laborers is our top priority. Service to the poor is service to God for us.

Resolve to develop India by 2047

Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Vijay Sharma said that today the Vikas Bharat Guarantee for Employment and Livelihood Mission (VB-Jiramji) scheme is being launched in the entire country and in Chhattisgarh, its state level launch has been done from Gram Panchayat Gandaikhurd. On this occasion, he approved the proposal of construction of shed in Gram Panchayat Gandaikhurd as the first work under the scheme in the state. He said that this is not just a scheme to provide employment, but a campaign to build a developed India from a developed village. To realize the vision of a developed India by the year 2047, holistic development of every village and panchayat is necessary. He said that the Central Government has made a provision of Rs 3,300 crore for Chhattisgarh, through which various development works will be carried out and there will be no shortage of employment.

Chhattisgarh included among the leading states in the country

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Sharma said that 318 types of works have been included under the scheme. These include 107 types of works related to water conservation, 90 types of rural infrastructure, 86 types of livelihood promotion and 35 types of works related to disaster management. He said that now GRG card will be issued in place of job card. He said that Chhattisgarh is among the leading states in the country in getting KYC done in job card. He said that under the scheme, special emphasis will be laid on increasing the water level and conservation of natural resources by doing works like Dabri, Check Dam, Boulder Check Dam, Recharge Pit, Rain Water Harvesting, Canal Lining, Rural Road (Dharsa), Murmification. Each Panchayat will have to prepare an action plan according to the local needs and start priority works including Atal Digital Seva Kendra, shed in Muktidham, rural infrastructure.

  • The Deputy Chief Minister said that under the scheme, works like boundary wall, kitchen shed, toilet, community animal shed, solar and street light, rural chaupal, high mast light, work shed for self-help groups, cold storage, fertilizer and food grain warehouse, community flour mill, agricultural processing center and handloom processing center can also be done. This will strengthen employment as well as rural livelihoods. He said that the resolution of developed India will be realized only when villages become self-reliant and prosperous. For this purpose, planned development will be done by dividing the villages into A, B and C categories. He said that construction of 11 lakh houses has been completed in Chhattisgarh in the last two and a half years, which is a proof of the government’s commitment towards rural development. He appealed to all the public representatives and villagers to prepare development action plans for their villages with comprehensive thinking, so that the goal of a developed India by the year 2047 can be achieved.
  • Pandaria MLA Mrs. Bhavna Bohra said that today is a historic day for the state and everyone has become a witness to this historic moment. Under this scheme, rural families will now get 125 days of employment under MNREGA and the daily wage of unskilled workers has been increased from Rs 261 to Rs 300 per day.

Gandaikhurd gets first gift, shed construction proposal approved

He said that the scheme is starting with development works. With this approval, Gandaikhurd became the first Gram Panchayat of the state under VB-G Ram Ji Scheme, where the proposal for development work was approved. He said that in the coming times, the benefits of the scheme will be extended to every village by giving priority to the development works as per the needs of each Panchayat.

During this, everyone called for taking the resolve of rural development, employment generation, livelihood promotion and developed India to every person. Through human chain, the villagers were also made aware of the objectives, benefits of the scheme and the importance of public participation in it.

Tree plantation done on a large scale to promote environmental protection

With the aim of conserving the environment and ensuring a clean and balanced environment for future generations, saplings were planted on a large scale under the “One Tree in the Name of Mother” campaign in Gram Panchayat Gandaikhurd. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Pandaria MLA Mrs. Bhavna Bohra along with public representatives, officials and villagers gave the message of environmental protection by planting saplings.
