An example of how safe women are in a government that claims women’s safety and women empowerment is being seen in Kanpur. The increasing graph of crimes against women is raising big questions on the law and order situation of the government and police. The dead bodies of two minor girls found hanging from a tree together in Kanpur have proved the stature of the police and law as dwarf in front of the increasing crimes and the increasing courage of criminals. Even though the pictures may not be clearly visible in the darkness of the night, the screams heard at the two deaths can be clearly heard. This scream is from a family where two minor girls have died together.
In fact, two daughters of two laborers working at LIC Kiln Barauli in Ghatampur area of Kanpur, who were minors, died together. The allegation is that the kiln contractor’s nephew and his associates made two daughters of the workers working at the kiln the victims of their cruelty. When the laborer’s family had gone out of the house for some work, the accused beat up the girls, gang-raped them and made obscene videos of them and threatened them to remain silent. After which the bodies of both the girls were found hanging from a plum tree in a suspicious condition.
The accused assaulted the girls
The family members of the deceased girls allege that they used to work as laborers at the kiln. The contractor and his nephew had an eye on their daughters. When he was not at home, they beat his daughters and also committed obscene acts and even tried to rape them. The accused also made videos of minor girls and threatened them to remain silent. After which, on the night of 28 February, the bodies of both the girls were found hanging from a tree in the village.
The accused were arrested
On receiving the information, Ghatampur police and senior officials reached the spot late in the night and started investigation. Additional Police Commissioner Harish Chandra said that taking this matter seriously, investigation is being done on all aspects. Three accused named on the complaint of the victim’s family are being arrested and interrogated. During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused, under the influence of alcohol, assaulted the girls, misbehaved with them and pressurized them to remain silent by making videos of them.
