Vice President CP Radhakrishnan’s two-day Assam visit from Sep 6

Vice President CP Radhakrishnan is set for a two-day Assam visit starting September 6. His itinerary includes programmes in Guwahati and Gauhati University, where he will lay foundation stones for projects and launch several books.

Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan is likely to undertake a two-day visit to Assam from September 6, during which he is scheduled to attend several programmes in Guwahati and Gauhati University. According to the schedule, VP Radhakrishnan will arrive at Guwahati’s Borjhar Airport at around 10 am on September 6. During his first day in Assam, the Vice President will participate in special programmes organised at Jyoti Bishnu Kala Mandir and Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. Following the scheduled events, he is likely to attend a dinner hosted by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan.

The Vice President will stay overnight at the State Guest House in Koinadhara, Guwahati.

Day Two: Gauhati University Events

On September 7, Radhakrishnan is likely to participate in a programme at Gauhati University. During his visit to the university, he is likely to lay the foundation stone for various projects worth Rs 110 crore, funded by the Assam government.

Multiple Book Launches Planned

A book authored by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, titled Integrated Development (The Role of the North Eastern Council), is also scheduled to be unveiled by the Vice President during the Gauhati University programme.

On the occasion of the birth centenary of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika, a special book will also be launched. The expanded edition of the Chandrakanta dictionary is also scheduled to be released during the programme.

Security Arrangements in Guwahati

Gauhati University Registrar Professor Utpal Sarma said preparations were underway for the Vice President’s visit and the scheduled programmes at the university.

The visit has also prompted the Guwahati Police and Kamrup Metropolitan district administration to strengthen security arrangements across the city. Security and traffic arrangements are being given special attention in view of the Vice President’s movement and participation in multiple programmes during his two-day visit. (ANI)
