At the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented a big vision on sports goods manufacturing hub, investment, MSME, skill development and roadmap for developed Gujarat.

In the presence of Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, an important seminar on the topic “Sports Goods Manufacturing Hub and from Traditional Skills to Industrial Level” was organized at the GSFC premises in Vadodara under ‘Vibrant Gujarat Regional Summit’ under Chhotaudepur district on Monday. In this program various topics related to sports equipment manufacturing industry, investment, skill development and industrial expansion were discussed in detail.

Gujarat prepared strong roadmap for the goal of Developed India 2047

Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel said that with the aim of realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Developed India @2047’, the Gujarat Government has prepared a comprehensive roadmap of ‘Developed Gujarat’. Keeping in mind the balanced and inclusive economic development of the state, the entire Gujarat has been divided into six major economic zones—Kutch, Saurashtra, Coastal Saurashtra, North Gujarat, Central Gujarat and Surat. He said that different focus sectors have been determined for each economic sector, complete information of which has also been made available on the official website of the state government.

Investors’ confidence increased under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi

The Chief Minister said that whatever resolutions Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took while being the Chief Minister of Gujarat and later as the Prime Minister of the country, he successfully implemented them on the ground. This is the reason that today investors have strong faith in the policies and working style of the government. He said that the semiconductor industry which was once considered difficult to establish in the country, is today developing rapidly under the leadership of the Prime Minister with four big plants in Gujarat.

Industries get new options from Industrial Policy-2026

The Chief Minister said that the state government has implemented Industrial Policy-2026 for the first time in the country. Under this policy, industries have been given the facility to choose the benefits related to capital subsidy and electricity rates as per their requirement. He said that this will provide more flexibility to industries and will also give new impetus to investment.

Vibrant Gujarat becomes a reliable platform for global investment

Shri Bhupendra Patel said that ‘Vibrant Gujarat’, which started in the year 2003, has today become an international level investment platform. Its success can be gauged from the fact that 70 to 90 percent of the MOUs signed here are being successfully implemented. He said that if the industries face any kind of problem, the state government is always ready to ensure its prompt solution. He called upon all citizens and industry to work together to achieve the goal of a developed India and a developed Gujarat.

Important role of sports manufacturing in sports economy: Mansukh Mandaviya

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Shri Mansukh Mandaviya said that sports goods manufacturing is emerging as a strong base in the rapidly growing sports economy of the country. He said that the Government of India is making continuous efforts to make the country a global sporting power through identification of sports talent, modern sports infrastructure and manufacturing of world-class sports equipment. He said that due to ‘Khelo India’, ‘Fit India Movement’ and continuous investment in sports infrastructure, there has been a significant increase in both interest and participation in sports among the youth.

Sports industry will get big boost under self-reliant India

Mansukh Mandaviya said that due to increasing participation in sports, new opportunities for local production, innovation, startup and export are being created. He said that under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign, the Central Government is providing special policy support to promote indigenous sports products, develop sports manufacturing clusters and take advantage of future international sports events.

Special emphasis given on strategic importance of sports sector

In the program, Minister in-charge of Chhotaudepur, Dr. Manishaben Vakil expressed her views on the important role of sports sector in the overall and inclusive development of the state. He said that sports industry can become a strong medium of employment, investment and local development.

Experts shared important suggestions in the technical session

In the technical session of the seminar, Mr. Vinil Krishna, Joint Secretary, Hello India and Mr. Sanjit Singh, Program Director, NITI Aayog, gave detailed information to the participants about various aspects related to sports industry, investment and development.

Brainstorming on investment, MSME and skill development of tribal youth in panel discussion

In the panel discussion organized under the chairmanship of District Collector Gargi Jain, KPMG Partner Prashant Shantakumaran, Mr. Rakesh Kohli, President of Stag International, Shiv Naresh Sports Pvt. Ltd. MD & CEO of Swimming Federation of India Mr. Shiv Prakash Singh, Mr. Ajay Kumar Pandey, Director of Agilitas, Mr. Arjun Anand, R&D Director of Anandco Sporting Corporation Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Monal Choksi, General Secretary of Swimming Federation of India and Director of Sports Department K. M. Harilal (ITS) shared his views.

During the discussion, many important topics like identification of suitable product categories for sports equipment manufacturing, skill development of tribal youth, promotion of entrepreneurship, strengthening MSMEs, ease of market access, adoption of eco-friendly production technologies and developing conducive industrial environment to promote investment in sports industry were discussed in detail.
