Vat Purnima 2026: In Sanatan Dharma, the day of Jyeshtha Purnima is considered very special for married women, because on this day married women observe fast and worship Vat i.e. banyan tree. Worship of the banyan tree on the day of Vat Purnima is considered very auspicious and fruitful. There is a religious belief that by observing fast and worshiping the banyan tree on this day, women get the blessings of their husband’s long life and happiness and good fortune. This is the reason why the full moon of Jyeshtha month is also called Vat Purnima.

According to Drik Panchang, Vat Purnima fast will be observed tomorrow i.e. 29th June. Worship of the banyan tree on the fasting day of Vat Purnima has special significance. According to Hindu belief, the Trinity i.e. Brahma Ji, Lord Vishnu, the creator of the world, and Lord Shiva, the God of welfare, reside on this sacred tree, but if there is no banyan tree nearby, then how can women get the results of Vat Purnama worship? Let us know about this in detail.

Vat Purnima Puja

On the day of Vat Purnima, married women, after offering water to the banyan tree, wrap a thread around it and perform 21, 51 or 108 parikramas according to their faith. It is believed that by doing this, the husband’s life gets longer and he gets marital and family happiness, but if you do not find a banyan tree on the day of Vat Purnima, then there is no need to be disappointed.

If you don’t find a banyan tree then worship it like this

For Vat Puja, you can bring a small potted banyan plant from any nursery. Apart from this, a branch with its leaves can be worshiped by planting it in a pot. If both these things are not available then the virtuous results of this fast can be achieved only by worshiping the Tulsi plant. If even a Tulsi plant is not available then the virtuous results of the fast can be obtained by worshiping the picture of Savitri, Satyavan and Yama deity under the banyan tree with proper rituals.
