The occasion was the selection of 15 year old young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi in Team India. Vaibhav has been selected in the Indian squad for the T20I tour of Ireland and England as well as the Asian Games to be held in Japan in 2026.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history
This 15 year old boy has created history. Vaibhav has become the youngest player ever to be selected in the Indian national team. He has broken the 36 year old record which was made by the great Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin made his debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of 16. This was a record which no one could break for more than three decades.

As soon as the team was announced, there was an atmosphere of celebration outside Vaibhav’s house in Samastipur district of Bihar. Along with family members, local people also participated in this joy. People said that this is a historic moment not only for the state but also for Indian cricket.
What did father Sanjeep Suryavanshi say on Vaibhav’s selection?
Vaibhav’s father Sanjeev Suryavanshi attributed his son’s success to years of hard work. He said, “He has worked very hard. Now that the hard work is paying off and he has got a chance to play for the country, it is his earning. My only wish now is that he plays exceptionally well for the country and brings many wins.”
Family gets emotional on son’s success
- Talking about the sacrifices made by parents, he said, “Every parent in the world works hard for their child. They want their child to reach great heights and be successful. I also had the same wish. My child has worked hard since childhood and has fulfilled our dreams. I want to sincerely thank and respect all (the selectors) that they trusted my child and selected him for the BCCI team.”
- This moment was very emotional for other family members also. His uncle Rajiv Suryavanshi said, “It is a matter of great happiness and pride. Today we are celebrating at home by bursting with fireworks and distributing sweets. Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s selection in the Indian T20 team is a proud moment for the entire country.”
- He further said, “He has performed brilliantly in the IPL. We knew that he would be selected in the Indian team. It is like a dream come true for us. I convey my congratulations and thanks to the selectors.”

Vaibhav’s grandmother also expressed her happiness on this achievement. He said, “I have never been so happy. This is not just my happiness, but the happiness of the entire country.
