Asian Games 2026 is to be organized in Japan from September 19 this year, in which BCCI has prepared a list of 30 probable players for the T20 cricket. The big thing is that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also got a place in the list of probable players. Suryakumar Yadav has been kept out of it, which means that he will not be the captain of India’s T20 team in the Asian Games i.e. ASIAD 2026. Sports journalist Hemant Rastogi has given information about this in his report. According to the report, BCCI will soon announce a 15-member team out of 30 possible players for the Asian Games 2026.
Who is in the list of 30 probables for ASIAD?
India’s T20 men’s team is the current champion of the Asian Games. He had won the gold medal in the last Asian Games held in China under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad. 9 members of that gold medal winning team have been kept in the list of 30 probables for this time’s Asian Games. Apart from that, players like Pant, Iyer and Yashasvi have also got place.
Ishan Kishan, Rituraj Gaikwad, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Varun Chakraborty, Arshdeep Singh, Hardik Pandya, Anukul Roy, Axar Patel, Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harsh Dubey, Dhruv Jurail, Tilak Verma, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Shahbaz Ahmed, Shimav Dubey, Vipraj Nigam, Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Yash Thakur, Sanju Samson, Nitish Reddy, Prasidh Krishna, Khalil Ahmed, Harshit Rana, Ayush Badoni and Abhishek Sharma.
Who will be the T20 captain in place of Suryakumar Yadav?
The absence of Suryakumar Yadav in the list of these 30 players means that the reins of the team will be in the hands of someone else in the Asian Games 2026. There are many contenders to replace Suryakumar Yadav as T20 captain, including names like Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad. But, the final decision regarding who to hand over the captaincy will be taken by the selectors and BCCI.
