Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s international career has not started in the way that was expected. This young opener of Team India has shown a glimpse of his talent in his very first international series but at present no big innings has come from his bat. It is too early to give any kind of decision regarding him, but in recent times, an aspect of his batting is coming to the fore, which can become a cause of trouble. This is to avoid bowing before the bouncer and this can prove fatal for them.

Vaibhav, who scored the most runs by destroying the bowlers in IPL 2026, got a chance to debut in the T20 series against England. At the age of just 15, Vaibhav has made the record of debut. There was a strong demand to include him in the playing-11 and it finally happened. But Vaibh was out early in both the matches. He definitely showed that he is ready for this stage by hitting 2-3 sixes but he also exposed one of his possible shortcomings.

In fact, in the third T20 match played in Nottingham, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made an explosive start and hit 2 sixes as soon as he came. But in the third over, as soon as Joffra Archer bowled a short pitch ball towards his body, Vaibhav tried to hit a hook shot on it. This proved fatal for him and he was caught out by the wicketkeeper. The speed of that ball was around 145 kilometers per hour and due to this Vaibhav was defeated.

This wicket is a lesson for Vaibhav Suryavanshi, which he will have to bring into his game as soon as possible. In fact, this left-handed batsman bowled explosively in the IPL and there he took all types of balls across the boundary with ease. But even in IPL, many bowlers were using short pitch balls or bouncers against him. The difference is that the conditions of the Indian grounds in which the IPL matches took place were completely conducive to batting. On most of the occasions, the pitch was very flat, due to which the ball was coming easily on the bat with good height.

On the contrary, in the conditions of England or South Africa or New Zealand, the ball has more bounce. In such a situation, due to the high speed, it is often not so easy to play a pull or hook shot on a bouncer. Due to this, there is a danger of timing getting spoiled and the catch bouncing. In such circumstances, going for shots at every bouncer is not a wise decision.

Against such balls, traditional cricket technique i.e. bowing before the bouncer and letting it go is often a better option. More than 2 bouncers are not allowed in any over. In such a situation, if these balls are avoided then a long or explosive innings can be played by targeting the remaining balls and this is what Vaibhav needs to learn.
