In the media workshop of PIB Dehradun in Pithoragarh, the achievements of the Central Government in 12 years, public welfare schemes and Developed India-2047 were discussed.

A one-day regional media workshop was organized by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Dehradun under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India on Saturday in Pithoragarh. The theme of the workshop was “Public service is the resolution – 12 years of faith, development and public welfare”. The objective of the program was to disseminate information about the achievements, development works and public welfare schemes of the Central Government in the last 12 years to the common people through the media.

Presence of Mayor Kalpana Devalal and administrative officials

Mayor of Municipal Corporation Pithoragarh, Mrs. Kalpana Devlal participated in the program as the chief guest. Vice Chairman of State Level Minor Irrigation Advisory Committee, Mr. Ganesh Bhandari, District Magistrate Mr. Ashish Kumar Bhatgani and Chief Development Officer Dr. Deepak Saini were present as special guests.

PIB Dehradun Assistant Director told the objective of the workshop

Inaugurating the program, Mr. Sanjeev Sundriyal, Assistant Director, PIB Dehradun welcomed the guests, media representatives and participants. He honored the guests by presenting mementoes and highlighted the objectives of the workshop. He said that the objective of the program “Vishwas Ke, Vikas Ke, Jan Kalyan Ke – Vartalap” is to convey factual information about the schemes, achievements and development works of the Central Government to the public through media.

12 Years of Development: Information about changes in various fields

Shri Sundriyal said that in the last 12 years, important work has been done in many areas like social welfare, women empowerment, youth development, health services, agriculture and rural development, which have had a positive impact on the lives of crores of people. He said that media is a strong pillar of democracy and journalists play the role of bridge between the government and the society. Therefore, the role of media is very important in providing correct and factual information about the schemes to the people.

Pithoragarh Development Model: Discussion on development works in the marginal district

During the workshop, the speakers gave detailed information on the ongoing development schemes in Pithoragarh district, expansion of infrastructure and overall development of marginal areas. He said that continuous efforts are being made to extend the benefits of Central and State Government schemes to the last person. Special initiatives have been taken to promote tourism and religious tourism, which are showing positive results.

Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and Om Parvat Tourism got a boost

Speakers said that due to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, Adi Kailash Yatra and Om Parvat Yatra, the number of devotees and tourists coming from within the country and abroad is continuously increasing. Along with this, road construction and upgradation work has been done on a large scale to strengthen the road network in the border areas. These projects, along with providing convenience to the local people, have also strengthened the area from a strategic point of view.

Special focus on Air Connectivity and Infrastructure Development

It was told in the workshop that the expansion of air services and air connectivity in the district has given new impetus to tourism, trade and transportation. Regional development has also been strengthened due to better connectivity facilities.

Lakhpati Didi Yojana: Effective initiative towards women empowerment

While discussing the topic of women empowerment, it was told that the income of women associated with self-help groups is increasing through Lakhpati Didi Yojana. Through this scheme, continuous efforts are being made to make women financially self-reliant.

Health Services: Ayushman Bharat and expansion of medical facilities

Highlighting the achievements of the health sector, it was told that medical facilities have been expanded in Pithoragarh Medical College and Base Hospital. Chief Medical Officer Dr. S.S. Nabiyal shared information about Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, National Health Mission and the work being done to strengthen health services.

Government Welfare Schemes: Various departments gave information about the schemes

District Program Officer Dr. Nirmal Singh Basera gave information about nutrition campaign, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, Mission Shakti and women empowerment schemes. District Education Officer (Elementary) Himanshu Naugai gave a presentation on the new education policy, Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan and innovations taking place in the education sector.

Agriculture and Land Conservation Officer Rajesh Khetwal gave information about Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi, Soil Health Card, Natural Farming and schemes run for farmers. Meanwhile, Senior Horticulture Inspector Kapil Bhatt threw light in detail on the schemes for horticulture development, promotion of apple, kiwi and other high value crops.

MY Bharat Portal: Information about opportunities for youth

Dr. Shailesh Bhatt, Director of Mai Bharat, gave information about skill development of youth, their participation in nation building, volunteer activities and opportunities available through Mai Bharat portal. He inspired the youth to connect with government schemes and programmes.

Viksit Bharat 2047: Role of media is important in achieving the goal

The goal of Developed India-2047 was also discussed in detail during the workshop. Speakers said that the role of media is very important in conveying the government’s plans and achievements to the public. Media representatives also shared their suggestions and views on various topics and discussed effective publicity of the schemes.

Open dialogue with journalists, discussion on problems and suggestions

During the program, Assistant Director of PIB Dehradun Mr. Sanjeev Sundriyal interacted with the journalists. He obtained information from the media representatives about the challenges, problems and suggestions faced in their field of work. The journalists placed before him the issues related to news compilation, information communication system and journalist interests in the frontier district.

Shri Sundriyal assured to listen seriously to the issues raised by the journalists and take them to the relevant level and make efforts for their solution. He said that media is an important pillar of democracy and its role is very important in establishing effective communication between the government and the public. Dialogue program was successful

During the workshop, various contemporary topics were discussed openly among officials, experts and journalists. Journalists from print, electronic and digital media actively participated in the program. Through this initiative of PIB Dehradun, media personnel got detailed information about government schemes and policies, which will help in ensuring effective dissemination of authentic and factual information to the common citizens.
