Mandya (Karnataka) [भारत]July 22 (ANI): District Youth Congress held a massive protest in Mandya condemning the Central government against NEET rigging and alleged question paper leak. The protest march started from MIMS campus in Mandya and ended at Sanjay Circle. Hundreds of students took part in the protest and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
On Tuesday, MLA Ganiga P. Ravikumar joined the students’ march and raised slogans against the Centre. KPCC working president M.S. Chidambaram, Mysore President C.D. Gangadhar, District Youth Congress President Shailendra and other Congress leaders also participated in it.
MLA targeted the central government
Addressing the protesters, MLA Ganiga P. Ravikumar said that the central government has no mercy towards the students. He asked, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stop being ‘showy’ and save the students. Have you become PM just for votes? The Union Education Minister is incompetent. Does the country need such a minister?”
He alleged that the NEET question paper was leaked to help BJP leaders earn “crores of rupees”. He also condemned the lathicharge on protesting students in Delhi and the arrest of Rahul Gandhi for supporting the students.
Ravikumar said, “The future of the students is ruined. This is an anti-student central government. Delhi Police has attacked the students. Congress will stand with you until the students get justice.”
Warning of blocking the highway if resignation is not made.
The protesters demanded the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for the NEET scam and mismanagement of the education system. “If he does not resign, the students will block the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and launch a major agitation,” the MLA warned.
The protesters also raised slogans against the central government over the NEET scam and irregularities in the education system. Hundreds of students and Congress workers took part in the protest and demanded justice for the candidates affected by the NEET controversy.
Earlier in July, a large number of students had staged a major protest near the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandya, Karnataka against alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG), targeting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government. The protest reflects the growing anger of students over repeated irregularities in the NEET exam, demanding accountability. (ANI)
