UP electricity Tariff 2026: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has decided not to increase electricity tariffs even in the financial year 2026-27. Electricity prices will remain stable for the seventh consecutive year.
In the era of inflation, there is a relief news for crores of electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath government has decided not to increase electricity rates even in the financial year 2026-27. This means that the existing electricity rates will remain applicable in the state for the seventh consecutive year. The special thing is that despite record electricity demand and rising costs, the government has decided not to put additional financial burden on consumers.
Electricity price has not increased for seven years
According to the government, the same electricity rates which have been in effect for the last seven years will remain applicable for all categories of consumers in the financial year 2026-27. Domestic consumers, farmers, traders, small entrepreneurs and industries will not have to pay any additional tariff. The government claims that Uttar Pradesh has become the first big state in the country, where electricity rates have not been increased even by a single penny for seven consecutive years. Amid rising inflation, this decision is considered to be a big relief to consumers.
Tariff not increased despite record electricity demand
During the scorching heat this year, the maximum demand for electricity in the state reached 32,673 MW, which is a record so far. Despite this, the Energy Department has claimed to maintain uninterrupted power supply. The government says that due to improvements in power generation, procurement and distribution system, despite record demand, a situation of widespread power crisis did not arise. Due to better management, continuous electricity was provided to the consumers.
What benefit will consumers get?
Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma said that the existing electricity rates in the state will remain the same and no additional charges will be imposed on any category of consumers. The government will also continue to strengthen the power distribution network, set up new sub-stations, increase the capacity of transformers and modernize power lines.
Apart from this, consumers of Noida will continue to get 10 percent rebate like before. The government claims that the electricity system from villages to cities has become more reliable than before and efforts will continue to ensure record level electricity supply in the coming times.
