The weather has suddenly taken a turn amidst the scorching heat in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be a major change in the weather of the state due to the effect of cyclonic circulation and active western disturbance. On May 30, there is a possibility of heavy rain and storm with thunder in many districts of Eastern and Western UP. The Meteorological Department has also issued a special alert of heavy rain and thunderstorm in some areas.
Meteorologists say that due to this change the maximum temperature of the state may drop by 5 to 7 degrees Celsius. With this, the heatwave that has been going on for the last several days is expected to end completely.
Winds can blow at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may start deteriorating with strong winds in many districts from Friday morning. The wind speed is likely to be 50 to 60 kilometers per hour, which can reach 70 kilometers per hour in some areas. Along with strong winds, incidents like lightning and uprooting of trees have also been feared.

Bundelkhand and Central UP: Warning of heavy rain and thunderstorm has been issued in Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi and Lalitpur.
Purvanchal and Terai region: Weather may also worsen in Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Maharajganj, Siddharth Nagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur.
Western Uttar Pradesh: Alert of strong storm and rain has been issued in the surrounding areas including Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiya, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Sambhal and Badaun.

The Meteorological Department has warned that power supply may be disrupted due to strong winds and thunderstorms. There is also a possibility of reduced visibility in many areas and road traffic being affected. People have been advised to stay indoors during inclement weather and avoid unnecessary travel.

This sudden change in weather can also affect crops. Due to strong winds, crops like sugarcane, maize, urad and moong may fall, while the risk of flowers and fruits falling has also increased. There is also a possibility of damage to mango and banana plantations. Farmers have been advised not to irrigate during strong winds, support the plants and keep proper drainage system in the fields so that rain water does not accumulate.
