Yogi government has issued strict instructions to improve the electricity system in Varanasi. Many major decisions have been taken to ban tripping, 24×7 van service, relief to small consumers and ensuring better power supply.
Lucknow. Yogi government is continuously taking strict decisions to make the state’s electricity system better and reliable. In this sequence, during his visit to Varanasi, Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma held a review meeting with the officials of the Energy Department at the Circuit House. In this meeting, he gave clear instructions that power tripping will not be accepted at all in any area and uninterrupted power supply should be ensured under all circumstances.
Strictness on electricity tripping in Varanasi, clear instructions to officials
During the review meeting, the Energy Minister laid special emphasis on speed and quality in the works related to power supply. He told the officials that there should not be any problem of tripping in any area of Varanasi. For this, all necessary steps should be taken immediately so that people can get electricity without interruption.
Emphasis on planned work regarding increasing electricity demand
The Energy Minister reviewed the progress of underground cabling work and directed to complete it expeditiously. He said that work should be done in a planned manner keeping in mind the increasing electricity demand in future. He also said that Varanasi is a major religious and tourist city, hence the power system here should be of high standard. All work should be completed in a timely, transparent and quality manner.
Relief to consumers: Electricity will not be cut on small connections
Many important decisions were taken in the meeting in the interest of consumers:
- Electricity of consumers with connections up to 1 kilowatt will not be cut even if they have negative balance.
- Consumers up to 2 kW will be given a maximum rebate of Rs 200.
- It will be mandatory to send SMS alert in 5 steps before disconnecting the connection
- Electricity supply will continue even if there is negative balance on Sundays and public holidays.
Instructions have been given to strictly follow these rules so that consumers can get relief.
24×7 electric van service started in Varanasi
The Energy Minister also inaugurated two state-of-the-art ’24×7 electricity vans’ in Varanasi. The main objective of these vans is to quickly repair electrical faults. They are equipped with modern equipment and safety equipment, so that every kind of technical problem can be solved immediately. The teams working on these vans will work in three shifts of 8 hours each to provide 24-hour service. Every team will include supervisor, lineman and helper.

Many important works will be done through these special vans:
- Maintenance of high tension lines and replacement of transformers.
- Immediate repair of underground and AB cable faults
- Repairing or replacing broken or bent power poles
- Protecting power lines by pruning trees
- Identifying potential faults in advance by conducting regular surveys
- In case of power interruption, immediately reach the spot and restore the supply.

The Energy Minister said that the aim of the government is to provide better and reliable electricity service to the people. Initiatives like these 24×7 vans and regular surveys will not only strengthen the power system but will also provide great relief to the people from power cuts.
