UP: Liquor mafia was gambling on Diwali, shot dead in dispute… had come after being released from jail in Bihar

The village head was shot dead in a dispute over gambling in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. The deceased was a liquor mafia and he was recently released from jail in Bihar. After committing the incident the accused fled from the spot. Police have recovered the body of the deceased from a house. The body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered on the complaint of the relatives of the deceased. Many teams including Special Operation Group (SOG) have been deployed to arrest the accused.

The village where the incident took place is adjacent to the border of Bihar. According to the police, several cases of liquor smuggling were registered against the deceased village head. Cases are registered against him in many police stations including Bankata in Deoria and Guthni and Mairwa in Bihar. He was a known liquor smuggler. He had come to gamble on Thursday night on the occasion of Diwali. After a dispute, he was shot dead.

Dispute while gambling

According to the information received, Ajit Singh, the head of Janjira village, is a liquor mafia. He had gone to gamble at a person’s house in Sohanpur village. While gambling, there was a fight between them over some issue. Then the other accused who was gambling shot Ajit Singh, due to which he died on the spot. The accused fled after the incident. Police found the body of Ajit Singh in the night at the house of his acquaintance Pankaj Jaiswal.

The miscreants escaped after killing the village head.

Regarding this incident, Deoria SP Sankalp Sharma says that the incident took place in Sohanpur village under Bankata police station area. Where the body of 30 year old Ajit Singh was found in the house of his acquaintance Pankaj Jaiswal at night. He said that in the initial investigation the murder was committed due to personal enmity. A case has been registered on the complaint of the family members. Soon this incident will be worked out and the accused will be arrested.

According to the police, in the house where Ajit Singh had gone to gamble, people from Bihar were also allegedly involved in gambling. Then there was a dispute between them. The officer said that during the argument, Ajit was shot dead, then the attackers fled.
