Amidst the fear of scorching heat and less rainfall, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given strict instructions regarding drinking water, irrigation, health and relief arrangements. Special focus has been laid on farmers, water conservation and disaster management.

In view of the increasing heat in the state and the possibility of less than normal rainfall this year, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the administration to remain completely alert. He said that no negligence will be tolerated in drinking water, irrigation and relief works and all departments should make preparations in advance.

Special monitoring and control room activated in drought affected districts

In the high level meeting, the Chief Minister asked to keep a special eye on the 18 already drought affected districts. Instructions were given to timely assess the situation between June 15 and July 30 and take help of NDRF if needed. Also, it was asked to keep the control room active from state to district level.

Instructions to intensify water conservation and de-silting campaign

The Chief Minister asked to complete the cleaning (de-silting) of canals, ponds and ponds by May 30. Instructions were also given to give the soil extracted from the ponds free of cost to potters and Prajapati Samaj, so that employment opportunities can increase.

Strict instructions to ensure drinking water supply

He clearly said that there should be no shortage of drinking water anywhere in the state. Along with pipeline water schemes, alternative arrangements like tankers were also asked to be kept ready. Instructions were also given to make adequate arrangements for water in forest areas and cow sheds.

Emphasis on strengthening irrigation and electricity systems for farmers

To provide relief to the farmers, they were asked to keep all tube wells operational, repair them on time and ensure continuous power supply for irrigation. Besides, emphasis was also laid on proper use of water and preventing wastage.

Special focus on crop protection, seed distribution and insurance

The Chief Minister gave instructions to effectively implement subsidized seed distribution, agricultural advice and crop insurance scheme. In case of loss, farmers were asked to ensure that they get timely compensation.

Strictness on food security and black marketing

Under the public distribution system, the needy were asked to provide timely ration and maintain storage. Also, instructions were given to take strict action against hoarding and black marketing.

Health preparations to prevent heat stroke and heat

Hospitals were asked to make complete arrangements for the treatment of heat stroke and heat related diseases. Besides, instructions were given to run a campaign to increase awareness among the people.

Early weather warning system and disaster preparedness strengthened

Instructions were given to strengthen the early warning system to ensure timely delivery of weather information to people and farmers. It was also said to take the help of more than 19 thousand trained Aapda Mitras and volunteers.

Emphasis on preparation and tail feeding of Kharif crop 2026-27

Reviewing the preparations for the Kharif season, the Chief Minister said that it should be ensured that water from the canals reaches the tail end. Instructions were given to maintain strict monitoring to ensure that there is balanced use of water and there is no shortage in any area.

Filling ponds and improving water availability

It was informed that out of 24,153 ponds, more than 17,961 ponds have been filled, which shows more than 70% progress. The water condition in the reservoirs is better than last year.

Government’s focus on strengthening the irrigation system

The Chief Minister said that cleaning and maintenance of canals should be completed on time. The government’s priority is that farmers should get adequate water on time and the tail feeding campaign should be implemented with complete transparency and responsibility.
