A case of attack on the electrical team has come to light in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. In a village in the district, a youth attacked the team that had come to collect the dues of electricity bill with a sharp weapon. The lineman was injured in the attack. Police reached the spot after getting information and admitted the injured lineman to the hospital for treatment. The accused absconded after the attack. Police have registered the case and started searching for the accused. According to the electricity department, the father of the accused has outstanding electricity bill of Rs 1 lakh 51 thousand.
These days the electricity department is running a checking campaign in rural and urban areas in Ghazipur district. In which the XEN, SDO, JE as well as linemen and other employees of the department are continuously recovering the outstanding electricity bills. Besides, work is also being done to disconnect the electricity connections of those who do not pay the dues. Under the campaign, a team of the Electricity Department reached village Takkipur Post Buzurga to do the work of electrical checking and disconnection on outstanding charges.
The team asked the defaulter to deposit the electricity bill
During this time, the team went to Ramprasad’s house and asked him to deposit the outstanding electricity bill amount. He owed Rs 1 lakh 51 thousand to the department. For which, on the instructions of the officials, contract worker lineman Shobhanath Chauhan started climbing the electric pole. It is alleged that Ram Prasad’s son Chhotu Rajbhar started abusing the lineman, officials and employees of the electricity department. Before people could understand anything, he attacked the lineman with a sharp weapon, due to which Shobhanath Chauhan was seriously injured.
Electricity team attacked
Even after the attack, the accused Chhotu Rajbhar did not stop, he kept threatening everyone to run away from his door. Electricity department employees called the police by dialing 112. He informed about the entire incident. The police admitted the injured lineman to the hospital for treatment. The lineman reached Ghazipur police station and lodged a complaint against Chhotu Rajbhar. On which the Kotwali police took action and registered a case under sections 118 (1), 352 and 351 (3) and are taking further action.
There are 300 big defaulters in the district
The work of electricity dues and power disconnection is being done continuously by the electricity department. Under which, on the instructions of the Executive Engineer, many teams have been formed which are reaching different areas of the district and doing such work. According to the department, the number of big defaulters in Ghazipur is around 300. Now the Electricity Department is going to start the work of putting up posters containing their names and photos at the intersection under the ‘Shame on Shame’ scheme of all those people. After this, the department will work to expose the faces of many big defaulters who are not paying the electricity bills even after getting the electricity connection.
